Good morning, church.
If you could choose one word that describes the world today, what would it be?
Some might say confused.
Others might say divided.
Some would say fearful.
Others would simply say tired.
We live in a culture searching for hope.
People hope the economy improves.
They hope their health gets better.
They hope relationships survive.
They hope politics fixes everything.
They hope tomorrow will somehow be better than today.
But here's the problem...
Most of what we call hope isn't actually hope.
It's optimism.
"I hope I win."
"I hope it doesn't rain."
"I hope things work out."
Biblical hope is completely different.
Biblical hope isn't wishing something might happen.
Biblical hope is confidently expecting what God has already promised.
That's why Peter writes to believers who had every earthly reason to lose hope...and yet tells them they possess
